so do I,

I'm all giddy and excited :D :D

had a XR2 years ago with highly modifled Escort RS turbo engine running 16PSI boost, it was mental I loved the noise it made

however 190 BHP at the wheels was a handful in the wet with no LSD

Just waiting to do the deal on the porsche engine, which will give me a 1835cc engine as the base for the turbo work.

Then it's search ebay time for the other parts I need

Think I'll try a draw thru turbo set up first?

If draw thru I will need a turbo with carbon seals, if blow thru I'll need carbs that are pressure sensitive to turbos, such as Renault 5 turbo carb.

All depends on what parts pop up at the right time and right price.

Also doing a friends weedding in Sept, so returning the bus to chrome 356 rims soon.

Right then. I previously turbo charged a 1300ab in a bug used a garratt t2 charger made a link pipe from turbo to an empi header

Modified standard fuel pump to boost sensitive, so on boost more fuel was provided .

Blew thru solex pict 31

Remove top off carb undo throttle butterfly. Remove throttle shaft. With a 12mm drill bit drill the side of the carb where shaft slides thru by about 1-2mm both outside of carb, refit shaft and fit a rubber o ring on the end of the shaft before the washer and 10mm nut this is so when you blow thru with turbo it doesn't blow out of sides of the carb.
Remove emulsion tube and solder the bottom 4 holes this will make the fueling richer.

On throttle plate drill a 4mm hole in the top center of the plate to allow air to pass thru and not blow shut on boost.

On my 1300 i ran 135main jet

My car boosted @ 2500rpm and was still boosting when it hit the limter rpm@ 5400rpm only about 2.5bar but on the rollers made 78bhp on stock internals

Was quick but didn't feel that fast until you clocked the speed. My mates used to say it was deceptive as 1min i was right in front of them and next about 4 car lengths in front

Ok done some research, but you can only read so much and I'd rather just got on with it

Decided to go for a blow through set up as this will be better driveability on the road. Would appear suck through is simplier but better for full on power ie drag racing.

I get the 1835 engine next week  , its all in bits but comes with the following, brand new 8 dowel counter balance crank, lightened flywheel, new main and rod end bearings, Engle 110 cam ( might need to change this for turbo use) straight cut cam gears (new) and baby dell twin carbs.

Was toying with the idea of making my own turbo set up, however by the time i've got the turbo, renault 5 gt carb tubing ect and exhaust manifold I'll have spent £300 plus,

so managed to bag a set up for less than that. Presentation wise its not upto the standard I like. So initial plan is to fit and get running, then modify to my liking. First thing to get the turbo closer to the exhaust 4 into 1 for better boost and reduced lag. Then once all fine remake the turbo exhaust pipes in stainless and the intake side in polished alloy tubing.
