I have just put the engine and gearbox back in the van , when i turn the key the starter turns the engine over(it doesnt start yet) , when i let go of the key , the starter motor continues to turn over.
A brief history i broke the solenoid cap when i removed the starter , and replaced the solenoid with one from andrew page auto factors.
is the problem likely to be that i have wired it up wrong ?
have i got a faulty solenoid ?
what will happen if i put the wires on the other spade terminal (there are 2 spade terminals i have only fitted the one spade connector to one terminal) will it blow up ?
thanks brian

I think its more likely you have the main wires on the wrong terminal as the solenoid earth through the starter.test which is correct with a multi meter ,side tha has conection from small spade to main terminal goes to starter.
