Yesterday I started to weld the patch in. A few tacks then started to seam weld - once the wind dies down will try and finish!

Moved things around in the garage and decided to split the pressure regulator that reduces the brake pressure to the rear drums.
Decided to split it and check how it looks - not to bad inside, a little gunge which I removed then tidied up:

Put it back together then wire brushed it:

Still needs one of the stuck bolts removing that connect it to the chassis - will ask a local garage if they could have a go.
So, to stop it rusting again, tickled it with some paint:

Plonked all the now painted and refurbed bits into some plastic containers until ready to put together:

Arms just on a shelf for the mo:

Also had put some more bolts, nuts and washers in acid yesterday - pulled them all out and some of the washers had broken in two so won't be using them!!

If weather is OK tomorrow will spend time finishing adding metal etc to the cab floor.

Cheers

Finished the welding and started the grinding - bit more to grind then will add some sealer top and bottom:

Spent the rest of the day moving all the boxes with the ready to install bits from the garage to the van so had to move things around in the van.
No pics of this (sorry folks) but please take my word for it :)

Back at work next week so things will slow down.
Still need to remove the stuck/broken bolt from the chassis which held the rear brake compensator valve..............

Think I need a new clutch conduit pipe as the one on the van is in poor nick and the end of the bowden cable is well and truely rusted on (I can see that Schofields do one but not cheap).

Cheers

They are so handy - on to my second one as the first only lasted a few years but this one seems better (more robust) so hopefully will last longer!

Expect a visit when we get up to that area!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not just Tea. ;) ;)

A new month and more pictures :)

Found a few more bits to tidy up.
First thing was the anti-roll bar, which was a touch rusty and covered in underseal so started on this first.
A before and during pic:

All nice and clean pics:

If your good I might take a picture of it with paint on it ;)

Started on the rear engine tin, pics of the top before a cleanup:

This after removing all the loose rust (and a degrease):

Same for the underside, first pic of before and the next after the removal of the loose rust and a degrease:

And the top with a few coats of paint - tomorrow will look to paint the bottom then on to the cleaning of the next part:

Looking great that tinware. In great condition. Is it original?

At gas1man....When you visit, tell Andy......”When you’ve finished and before you sell the van.....take it to a show/meet and maybe the earlybay crowd will persuade you to keep it!!” 😉

All the tinware is original, although the rear tin above is not from my van (think I got it off George V from this forum but could be wrong...).

Someone ages ago reminded me that when I put the engine back together that I had forgotten to put the air deflector plates back - so I have done it tonight ;)

Just about visible!

Also added paint to the other side of the rear tinware:

Not much done tonight but still moving forward :)

Is it wrong due to the flow of oil?
Below the nut is a rubber O ring which should stop any oil weeping.

Do the save way. ;-)
Noting the flow direction of the oil (head to crankcase), it's always better to let the oil from a smaller diameter into a bigger one.

I use these one piece push rod tubes (but only original distance head to crankcase):
