The acid attack continues - more bolts, nuts (ouch!) and washers (plus assorted other things) cleaned and rust removed - first batch completed:

And my first casualty :(

A few more bits to finish off as found the drum brake levers and stuff so giving them a go.
Will then look to get a bigger tub to do the drums properly. The parts that have been attacked by the acid have come up very well.

Got a bigger tub to put one of the brake drums in so lets see what it looks like tomorrow.
Sorted out the remaining bits which I put in the acid and all good.

With some of the bolts thought I would mock up one of the rear suspension bits and looking good :)

Managed a few hours today, cleaning parts still.
Took the first brake drum out of the acid and started to clean it up - left some weak solution in the inside as it was heavely pitted but now all good:

Had put the steering arm (pitman) in the acid as it had develop some surface rust.
Looking better now and rubbed some oil over it:

Started on the fan housing, took the flap linkage off and gave it all a good clean:

07.10.2017 Cont:

The fan housing is in good nick apart from surface rust and a little area that needed a touch of weld:

Welded:

Then a coat of rust convertor. Will give it tickle of paint next, just got to decide what colour though:

Busy month working on van bits this month!!

Started to tidy up the intake manifold - first shows mid clean and next shot shows them finished - rubber boots in very good condition:

Received a package from Heritage today.
Ordered a cover so put this on tonight - good job there was no wind otherwise it wouldn't have happened:

Also in the package was the drum brake backing plate so tried one on for size with the drum :)

Funny how the black VHT paint looks more grey but hey-ho.

Taking about VHT paint, on the fan cowl that is visible when in the engine bay, decided to use a more anthracite colour:

I like it, what do you think?

Also derusted this shield (goes around the base of the upright oil cooler) and added a flash of paint:
