Is it showing as taxed on the DVLA website?

I run mine with a classic 1970 tax disc in the window and nobody has ever batted an eyelid!

As long as it is showing as taxed on the anpr system I would imagine you will be fine! :msn4:

:D It is. Didn't know you could check online. Might just risk it, managed all the way from Felixstowe without a second glance.

Woohoo!

Well we set off for Latitude Festival in Southwold last Wednesday, our first trip out in the bus. Plan was to drive as far as I could before pulling into a campsite.
All ready to go:

Drove a few hours down the A1 and at around 10pm spotted a sign for a campsite so pulled off. Only around 5 static caravans and a two or three campers. A nice polite sign said to go see the warden Tony in one of the static caravans so we pulled up and knocked on his door. 'Tony' opens in a silk nighty, ill-fitting wig, fag in one hand. :msn4: We paid our money and bedded in for the night.

Woke up early the next morning to get an early start down to Southwold.

And made it to the beach huts!

Then onto the festival. All parked up next to loads of campers. Almost every other camper was a VW, loads of earlybays, lates, splitties. More here than I've seen at some VW shows!

Festival was excellent so on Monday morning we set off back into Southwold for the day. Weather was amazing!

Then back home. Around 500 miles relatively trouble free although the servo needs looking at as the bus is cutting out when the brakes are applied.
All in all an excellent week and the bus performed admirably.

8)

Cool , glad your trip went well !

Southwold , not many miles from me !

Do u recon you'll do latitude next year again ?

Nice bus (another bloody Westy....) and sounds like a great first trip 8)

Thanks for the replies. Loved the trip, loved camping in the van.
James, I think I'd go again depending on the music lineup. It's a good all round festival for poetry, literature, comedy etc but thought the music wasn't exceptional.
Definitely Glastonbury for me next year.

Been doing a few bits and bobs on my bus.
Disconnected the servo as it was causing me to cut out when I pressed the brakes, so new servo required at some point.
Engine is running a little rough so need to have a look at the timing, amongst other things. Feels like it's getting a little too hot too.
So cracked on with small things inside the bus.

Fixed my cigarette lighter! Can now charge my phone (small luxuries) :D

Let there be light! Fixed my westy light by replacing bulbs, fuses and cleaning the connections on the dash.

Replaced the cupboard door handle. Just a cheap one from JK, will look for an original one at some point, but can at least open the door now.

Worked out why the radio won't work:

Supposed to be going to France in it on Tuesday, not looking likely given my engine troubles. :( But all part of the fun.

Few trips out in the bus but not many pictures.
Quick day out in between the rain to Bakewell in the Peak District with the dog

This morning before the rain started, decided to remove the sink unit as my darling girlfriend managed to drop my keys through the water fill hole and into the water tank
Whilst doing this I thought I'd give it all a good clean and start getting bits to put it all back together, new tap, sterilise water tank etc

Whilst cleaning out lots of cobwebs I came across a number of egg sacs, hopefully they're dead, I hoovered them anyway.

This is the hole for the waste pipe, does it look right? It doesn't look rusty but does look flimsy if people know what I mean.

Anyway it started throwing it down so haven't managed to finish.

Thanks both.
Yes there's a metal plate underneath, at least everything looks solid.

I've also ordered my states plates, can't wait to get rid of my current ones!

Well look what arrived today four days after ordering:

Dellorto 36 DRLA carbs
Just need to get a Vintage Speed exhaust and the CB performance linkage and I can get it all on the bus.
I have a 009 distributor, should I be going for an SVDA one with twin carbs and if so which?

Also went and picked these up from Alan Schofields.

Tea beckoned so that ended play for today, will finish the two cab doors tomorrow.
Progress at last!
