Hi All. I've skiied alot but have never seen the alps in the summer. So the plan was hatched last year to do just that. We had a plan to see some places on the way down (well take in some of France really) then stay with our mate, Phillipe, who runs and owns a hotel/apartment business above the historic village of Samoens in one of the most beautiful spots. We had to manage a heat issue so stuck to the National roads generally rather than hammer down the autoroutes, which allowed us to see some beautiful places and villages.
So the alps, and phillipes place, 1600m (5300ft) above sea level, a climb of 800m in 9 km. Can't say the old lady liked it and we didn't do it too often, but she made it :
me and phil
Sixt fer a cheval, mountains a 2000m face
his mates place after an hour and a half hike, Lac du gers
on the way in Burgundy
DJ PJ
