Ok so here's a new one for, well new for me anyway.
I have just gone out to my van (1972) to found the battery flat, not a problem, a little annoying as it ran fine yesterday, but I can deal with a flat battery.
So I put the battery charger on and instantly the starter engaged....
I have a hot star relay with a fuse close to the battery in the engine bay so that got pulled so I can charge the battery.
Having had a quick look at the wiring diagram I wonder if it is the ignition switch but does anyone else have any suggestions?

Thanks all in advance

Matt

Hi Matt,
As suggested, either ignition switch fault,
Cable fault
Hot start relay fault
Starter internal fault.
Suggest you pull the spade connection off the starter solenoid. If it still is engaged then suspect the starter; if not check the other possibilities.
My best guess would be the hot start relay fault.
However, don't run the van if the starter is still engaged as it will ruin the starter internals.
