kinda crude but it's my first real welding welding project lol

The logo's are why I picked it up lol. Im guessing you mean to turn up the power and not the wire speed? The problem was, that the metal on car is so bad that some spots would burn through so easy that I couldn't turn it up at all or else my welder would have transformed into a plasma cutter lol. I think the uglyness is a combination of both contaminated/rusty/thin metal and my lack of skill, but its ok, they make grinders for that kind of thing...

Hmmm.... well I haven't posted in a while and not much new progress has been made on the bus since I've been busy welding on my 56 oval project... And I'm not sure what happened to all my pics, damn photobucket. Anyway, here's a fresh pic.

thanks guys! I gotta get back to workin on the bus some, all my spare time has been spent working on the oval rag. Once that one is slammed and rolling, its back to the bus for a full refurbishing.

i f@cking love this bus louis

lol thanks man! Wish I had some material to update with but I've just been driving and enjoying the hell out of it! I did trade my rail buggy for a 1979 rabbit though!

Well here's the latest....
I was driving home from a show last weekend and hit a sewer grate in a parking lot. It was pretty scary lol. I was going along in first gear and it hit the metal grate and the whole bus just stopped dead. It ended up bending the center pin and bracket, which in turn pushed up the tie rods and swing lever which hit my shift rod and bent it all up too. I was able to bend some of the stuff around after getting the bus up on some scissor jacks and was then able to limp it home.

Pretty lame. However, there is a silver lining! I will be picking up a 1971 single cab! I'm going to rebuild the beam in my westy, and also redo the C-notches and some other stuff and go all out with the it! I will then lift the single cab via 2.5" lift spindles and 1 notch out back and run some 28" mud tires. I'll use the single cab for camping and journeys into unfamiliar territory lol. Our local group may also be doing some camping trips in some of the state forests, in which the single cab will be much more practical than the slammed westy. I'm excited for more progress! Here's a teaser of the single cab I'm acquiring....
