New exhaust parts

My new exhaust parts have finally arrived. They have arrived with a factory grey coating and I was wondering what would be an appropriate way to treat the parts before fitting, do they need to painted or can I fit them and let the heat burn off the grey coating?

I’d be tempted to rub them back and paint them in some high temperature paint whilst they are off, clean and rust free.
