Has anybody fitted silicone tubes from the heat exchanger to the body tube on a 1600 engine as I've heard the repro stuff can melt?

It will be noisy without the silencer part of the tube.. we used the plastic ones with no issue, it's a baywindow youll be lucky to get much heat out of it!!

I used two pieces of stainless steel FLUE tubing from the local gas shop and then covered in exhaust wrap from ebay.
Cheap fix , colour coded wrap  and the size if memory serves was 85mm and held in place with 4 large jubilee clips.

I've managed to get original VW heat exchangers so I'm worried about melting repro pipes
