Hi

What do i need to get electric hook up on the continent, ie to connect to the power units on the campsites. It's only to run a fridge really which i have a standard 3 pin plug. Are they the standard blue 3 pin jobbies? i can fab up a lead and socket bar.

Any links appreciated, thanks Al

I bought a proper kit from Go Outdoors for about £30, it has three uk sockets protected by an RCD and the other end is the standard Euro three pin connector that most campsites use now. Some older systems have a different connection, and I have a short converter lead for that, I found it at a show second hand for about £5 as I recall.

Our only issue ever came when I hired a fridge for the awning on a long stay campsite once, it naturally had a Euro plug on it, but our single power outlet had the hook up/extension lead into it .... luckliy, i found a euro to uk converter at the local supermarket. I 'think' I have all bases covered now.

Also,

Get a little plug in tester so you can check polarity, some euro sites have reversed polarity and this may upset some kit you may be using.

I rigged up a euro to euro plug which will change the polarity back if you find its supplied incorrectly :msn4: .
