I feel i have a duty to warn like mined vw enthusiasts about a product i recently bought.we specialise in restoring vw campers to a high standard,we dont cut corners and are prepared to spend more to have the right product.i recently bought a westfalia roof canopy from a new company,i saw them at vanfest and the product looked very good.i paid over 300 pounds for an early bay roof canvas for a future restoration,on completing the van and being ready to fit the canopy to exact westfalia standards i found that the canopy was over three inches short in the length,i had to basicly make some packers at one end of the roof to allow the canopy to fit,this took a full day of extra work to make it fit,i had no choice but to fit it this way as the van was due to go out on a family holiday with the owner.even fitting it this way was not realy great as it was like a drum it was so tight,on speacking to the company and sending emails with pics and measurments they did eventualy send somone to take a look,he came and basicly had only ever fitted one canvas so was no expert,he left after staring at the canvas for an hour,i never heard anything back,no phone calls no emails nothing,today i get through on the phone and was basicly told its tuff titty they are not prepared to make me a canopy that would fit my van.nor give a refund as i had fitted this one and what could they do with it if i sent it back.dont get me wrong the canopys look superb but do not fit as they should,i have fitted dozens of these from loads of suppliers over the last 25 years and never had this,the most anoying thing is the customer service shocking,im not going to put the companys name on a public forum but if you are going to buy a canopy please be carfull,if you send me a pm or cal me i will do my best to help make sure you dont also get ripped off. rant over enjoy your vans everyone .regards.

To be honest this post is not much use unless you name them! Why risk other eb owners doing the same as you did, if their not willing to put it right for you or refund then sod'em!
Youve given them the chance :evil:

i totaly agree with you but thats not my way if somone is thinking of buying one then they may read this and get in touch.thats all i can do to try and prevent this from hapening to others.hope everyone takes the time to just do there home work.

it wasnt cheeper it was more if anything,i use to buy from Rolf in Holland but sadly he died,when i was these they looked very good thats why i tried one.i think if i remember rightly it was close to £400.

I had the same problem, I never even had a reply to my complaint! The quality is great but it was as stated above to small for the roof!

I am happy to name as a warning to others http://www.wolfsburgclassicparts.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I know that the guy selling them has contacted a friend in the restoration business asking for EB Westy measurements so is well aware of the issue.

Not happy Just

Im realy glad to hear this as when i spoke to him he basicly told me my westfalia roof was maybe not a real westy roof,i have several roof canvases from OG items to realy good quality repros bought from rolf de cam before he died, all these are correct and are larger than the ones this firm are selling.I was told it would cost them to much money to make me one which would fit.Basicly hes had god knows how many emails from me and ive called the phone nummber so many times,nothing came back no phone call no email just ignorance.I hope no one else has had this as it spoils what our vans are supose to be like,Unfortunetly i think there will be a lot of vans with extra tight canopys.

i can see how tight yours is at the front,i fitted mine as per og with the trim not on view inside ,this is how they were fitted originaly,making me have to pack the front out,it looks ok but is so bloody tight its unreal,i put the same thread on vzi and you know how it is on there,ijust seemed to get the usual idiots trying to cause trouble.

Interesting to hear this as Pete from Bromsgrove trimming had a similar issue from memory with a canvas that didn't fit properly and I think it came from the same source. Pete had to make alterations to it as it didn't fit properly.

I fitted one to mine too. :( It was a bit tight, but I managed to get it in, just hope it lasts.

The quality was not too bad, but the same quality and fit as the one that I put in my last bus. :roll:

I've bought a couple of Wolfsburg West canvasses in my time. They perfectly and look very much like OEM. Available direct from WW or from Heritage. $300 direct (need to add on some duty) or circa £300 from Heritage.

works out £273 direct from ww.anyone know what the import duty is

£220 for canvas

£53 postage

£360 from heratage

i had a look at a duty calculater on the net but couldent find the right category.
last time i bought from the states i saved 50p :lol:

Got mine from FBI for £295 http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?p=294761#p294761" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Wolfsberg west, FBI, C&C are all great and fit well. As far as I can make out they are all fro the same company. I would double check all seams, stitching and zips before fitting as I have had a couple that had small defects.

ahh well if thier still selling for 295 that will do me saves pissing about.

thanks bud

I got mine from JK 2 years ago, although the color isn't 100 accurate it was a good fit an doesn't leak. Was £150 I think?
