Oil coming up through dipstick at high revs

So, I swapped out the hose, removed the right angle plastic joint from the Weber. Drilled though the air filter and put a 1/2inch brass barbed fitting in there... Just been out on a 30 min dual carriageway run and no oil!!!!! Thanks again Abel, basically what you said to do all along :)...

Oil coming up through dipstick at high revs

And yes the pedestal has been replaced 🙂

Oil coming up through dipstick at high revs

It’s actually low on oil due to a different oil leak (cracked fuel pump pedestal) which emptied about 1.5litres over the engine bay...haven’t refilled yet Also replaced the rear main seal...I’m assuming if I had this problem before the oil was just leaking out of multiple places. Now I’ve...

Oil coming up through dipstick at high revs

The alternator conversion was done by a mechanic that specialises in air cooled VWs, not by myself. I didn’t actually realise I could reuse the original filler with that alternator stand. Either way, I no longer have it. 😞 As far as I can tell the breather hose is the correct spec, the...

Oil coming up through dipstick at high revs

Interestingly after buying a new hose, I've now gone back to my setup to put it on and in fact my current hose has an ID of 13mm, so does the right angle connector into the air filter. Any other ideas?

Oil coming up through dipstick at high revs

Thanks Abel, really appreciate the time. Since you’ve said this I’ve been able to narrow the issue down and have seen there’s many similar problems with the Weber specifically. I saw a YouTube video where someone actually just drilled a hole in the air filter for a larger pipe to feed into and...

Oil coming up through dipstick at high revs

Not at home at the moment but it’s this set up, the connector from the breather pipe into the carb is a right angle and into the bottom of the air filter

Oil coming up through dipstick at high revs

Hi, I recently had a generator to alternator conversion which involved replacing the stand, oil filler, fuel pump and breather pipe from the filler to the carb. At the same time the main engine seal was replaced along with carb and fuel pump gaskets and pedestal. I have a 1600 engine with a...

Swapping sliding door handle but keeping lock

It's a second hand one, without the barrel. So I need to swap my barrel from the broken handle into the replacement.

Swapping sliding door handle but keeping lock

My door handle broke off, I have a replacement ready to go but I need to swap the barrel... A couple of people have described the process to me but I'm concerned I haven't remembered it all and there seemed to be a specific order... Put the key in the lock Unscrew plastic interior handle Pull...

Dealing with surface rust on the undercarriage

That's great info thanks, I'm always tossing up the learning to do it myself / pay someone to do it debate. I don't have a drive or a garage, always parked up on a public road so anything that involves getting under the van is normally a bit of a pain (and to be honest a little risky). Cheers again

Dealing with surface rust on the undercarriage

Hey everyone, The undercarriage of my bay is pretty rusty, theres thankfully no holes or structural weaknesses that I can spot but the surface rust is significant...very rough to the touch and widespread. What are my the best options? Rub / sand / grind it down OR use some kid of rust...

    Saab to Stock front seats

Thanks all, I'll get my current seats out of a proper look but it sounds like I should probably look out for two drivers seats. I'm heading to Dubs at the park in Wokingham on Sunday so I'm sure I'll be able to pick up some bits...

    Saab to Stock front seats

Hello, I currently have two Saab seats fitted in my cab and the bulkheads behind each seat have been cut out by the previous owner :? I'd really like to go back to stock seats but I have a few questions... Does the stock drivers seat from any bay fit on the runners I'll have for the Saab...

    Weber carb conversion issues

Definitely have a choke, and it's hooked up. I have no idea how I'm going to get to those screws though, I have a really small socket set with a screwdriver attachment but theres only about 1cm of space and even that's too big. I'm sure there's a way! :)

    Weber carb conversion issues

After the new spring was fitted I'm fairly confident that it's now returning ok.. However now it's not revving up I think it has surfaced another issue, I'm assuming with my choke. Here's a clip of 10 seconds after turning the ignition (stutters and drops out when pulling away slowly) going...
