removing rubber seal from fresh air flaps ??

anyone done it & stuck them back with success? I know they are NLA,so have to re use the OG ones.

I'd like them blasted & powder coated but the rubber seal wouldn't survive the oven,so wondering if they can be removed and refitted? they look pretty much permanently bonded to the flaps though :(

Rob, I had the same thoughts and doubts you have.
As I did not have much rust I decided to leave the rubber in place and rubbed down to bare metal around it,
taking care not to damage the rubber, then re painted.
It was a pain to do but looks OK and the rubber is still intact,
 
Buy lots of cheap vinegar (cheaper the better) and submerse the whole thing in it. Keep on brushing at the rust with an old paint brush and eventually all the rust will go leaving clean metal, it may take upto a week so its not a quick process.
