Hi all
I have my engine out out and want to assess the condition of the filler hose and breather hoses but can't get the big cover off behind where the engine sits, I have undone the 6 screws on the sides, is there more screws behind the roof plates? It seems to stuck on with some kind of sealant, advice please! Thanks Mike

Hiding behind the lip just below the cover above where engine and gearbox meet.
I found 4 or 6 screws holding the base of the cover in place. Nearly ripped the tie down straps to shreds
trying to get in. Hope this helps.

I’ve done this job a few weeks ago on my 72. Had to slacken off the gearbox mounts and nudge the box left and right to access a screw either side of the box mounts. The other 2 are accessible. These 4 screws all drive upwards into the lip of the firewall you are removing.
The seal wasn’t sticky on mine, it wouldn’t come out initially due to the 2 screws hiding by the gearbox mounts.
Hope this helps.
Cheers Andy.
