Hello!

The previous owner of my bus did a few odd things to it, one being removing the sliding door handle, cutting out the recess and welding a flat metal plate in its place. It looks nice and neat but getting in the back is a bit tricky.

Will the lack of that recess (depression, empty space...I can't think of the best word for it) prevent a handle working if I was to fit a new one? I'm not sure how curved they are so they might just scrape the paint off.

HHmmm

You might get away with it as the recess is probably to get your hand behind the handle. Without my slider handle I wouldn't get in mu bus most of the time

I had a look and reckon the end of the handle just goes into the recess, so would maybe need grinding back a little.

It might be odd to use, but I think it would work if it was all adjusted and lubricated to operate well.
