Hi all Thanks for looking at our post...my name is Rog...and the other half is Liz....
This is Katie she is a 69/70 Danbury
This is the first photo we took of her....we bought her in August 2012 from a guy in Sollihul who had it advertised in Vzi for just over £3,000 with 10 months M.O.T and because we had not long sold our beetle and always wanting a wee van for weekends away and shows and stuff we decided to take the plunge and we bought it and brought it back to sunny Brighton
We plan to do as much as we can to get her up to a standard where we might be invited to park beside the rest of you...lol..but more likely we will take lots of pics of the work we do to get her a nice coat of paint and running smoothly...
Katie is a daily driver and gets me to work every day at 3 in the morning...and so far never let me down....
After getting her home I found I had a few issues the worst 2 being the 50 mph journey home and the lack of stopping power despite a firm pedal....on the way home from work the firm pedal was to be explained when the back wheel wobbled loose and come to a dodgy halt not good on the by pass....clean underwear time let me tell you folks ...
It turned out that there was no pin through the castle nut which ended up inside the hub cap...oh dear...
Thanks to Paul for the rescue and big socket and bar....
The 50 mph thing turned out to be 2 things too....a dodgy carb and no travel on the gas pedal.....the carb I rebuilt and cleaned out...I went a bit nuts taking photos of all the steps...here's a few....
I got loads if anyone interested....
The travel on the gas pedal now what a little set up that is but can I say right now that it's worth the effort i knew that 1600 TP was a gem and happy to sit at 60...lol...honest...
The linkage is a nightmare under the floor so I will be going back to it in the future but here's what we did for now
welded in a new link kit
and a new pedal and spring
well thats sort of where we are now apart from the pics of sorting out front brakes I'll put on later
