OK, time for a quick update:

The passenger side cab floor area had some pinhole rust spots, so after discussion with Stuart & Drew at Midland Paintwerks, it was decided that as this bus is a "Keeper" (famous last words - I know) we would replace a floor section as invisibly as possible.

This is the result after welding & lead loading, just needs the seam sealer before painting.

Looks pretty sweet, well done boys !

There was a small area on the top edge of the step that needed attention, again a solid & invisible repair

In the rear, there is a small area that had rusted in the middle seat keyways, although this will be covered by the wooden floor, again we decided to do it the correct way.

Next step is a chemical treatment for the bare metal & epoxy primer & then sorting out the panel imperfections before it gets the top coat.

OK, so in anticipation of my seats going to Pete & Angie at Bromsgrove Auto Trimmers, it was time to do some basic structural preparation to the seat frames.

This is how things looked on the surface:

Didnt look so good underneath, broken springs & the upper frame:

The base spring also snapped

Time to bring out the basic tools

Disregard the broken bits

Start to make things good

Remembering my rudimentary first aid skills about neighbour strapping broken bits

Wire brushed, & a coat of primer & painted Satin Black

The same process on the M051 double seat

Just got to weld the top of the seat frame & we are ready for the trimming.

Thought things were a bit "saggy" but not the amount of damage I found

Ive found that Alot of early bay frt seats if they are showing rumpled coverings usually have broken springs and or a broken /snapped frame .
Recently I had a local guy come to the shop as he was having his seats recovered ,he had stripped the seats himself ready to powdercoat them up to find them all broke and twisted . I welded them up Properly and he was quite happy .

It worrys me that folks are buying 2nd hand seats off Ebay for 200 notes then finding them broken and bent, to then get charged to have em welded etc :roll:

Hi all

Hopefully will have some bodywork updates soon

Stewart & Drew have now finished the bus that was holding mine up , its all systems go on mine now.

In the meantime I collected a new part for it today & I am amazed at the quality, see below

Also they are really nice people to deal with

Just waiting patiently for the day(s) I can fit it all.
