Having gone to all the trouble of dropping the engine out partly to put in a new sender unit and clean out the tank etc., we are almost ready to go. This weekend's step backwards was that the petrol gauge seems to be working in reverse. When we put a new loom in and reconnected everything back to the dash, there was power to the gauge - but it registered totally full. Now we have a new sender unit it does the opposite and shows nothing (there is petrol in the tank). Where does the gauge get it's power from? Have attached the wiring diagram in the hope that someone with an electrically minded brain would be so kind as to explain how the gauge - G, is getting itsbus_8_71 wiring diagram.jpg
s power from?

Its an ign live feed, there is a looped wire that feeds warning lights that then feeds gauge. other side of gauge is a wire to sender. Have you used the correct wire and not got it mixed with oil pressure switch as similar colour. Dont forget to earth the tank

Thanks very much for your reply, we had wired up wrong. The clock now works as well as the gauge for the first time in years. Always a bonus to know when it's coffee time!
