hello earlybayers :D

Bought my first bus from good friend Baz, start of last summer. I'd seen this van 2 years previously, but never had the cash to buy it. . .

May 2012 - made the decision not to travel to Australia, instead, buy the green 69' deluxe. :D
happy days!!!!!

cheers for the kind comments!!

Been living in a leaky shed at top of the garden for the past year sorting this van out

originally Delta Green / Cloud white roof, it's been resprayed a slighly lighter green all over.

PLAN - Remove crappy paint, and repair where needed, keeping as much original paint as possible :D

Removing crappy paint -

started with the roof,

Use of stanley blades, scotch pads, accetone, wet n dry etc

roof looks battered :D

removed plenty of filler on passenger side. plan is to laquer the roof and bumpers.

front windowscreen surround needed some attention, as did the 3 holes where spare wheel been mounted. Loads more filler around the drivers side indicator too.

Got the entire front panel back to og paint using same method used on the roof.

!st time using 2pak paint. nothing to loose, trying my best to blend the new paint by feathering it into the og paint.

bought a compressor, L610 DELTA GREEN paint mixed up, all neccessary gear etc

ready to rock n roll, practiced a few times on brown paper i'd taped to the shed. light coats, slowly building it up. wet n dry'd it, compounded. polished

Bus coming on all good, finished the paint blending :) kept 70% OG paint :)

Deluxe window seals arrived, next job fit windows.

Picked up a set of overiders off ebay, hammerd them back into shape, few coats of laquer.

Slow progress, getting there . . . .

Nice mind!!!! 8)
Looks like you did a canny job blowing a few bits in!!!

& you used 2k & survived :anim_19:

Cheers dudes :)

, paintwork was alot of work to blend.
2pk, 1200, 1500, g3 then g10.

Waiting for some decent sun , to get roof laquered. Happy days

Enjoying the build, had great help from friends, giving me motivation :)

winging it, my sheds 2ft wider than the van

Cool forum, really helpfull people on here.

One life

Picked up some sprints :)

built up the bumpers with new overider rubbers and trims.
Laquered up a good'un

New window screen arrived, next job, fitting windows.

Cracking on with the bus :D good progress

With help from 3 friends and crazy dog, managed to get some glass back in, fresh deluxe seals.

The original wheel was rotten out. Baz (lonestar vw) helped me out with a solid replacement cut from a U.S bus
Cleaned it up, primed and painted underside. Stuck it in with tiger seal / scremed it down.
Remeved the screws, put neat bead round then blended with 2pack.

Key'd up the entire boot and main floor. Masked up above the windows.
Got a fair few coats of clear lacquer throughout. Kelly helped mask up :D
Gives the OG floor protection before the ply floor goes down.

Sliding door back on with help from a workmate. fresh german seals, few hours of fettling, plenty grease, slides a dream 8)

Finished the 55' raleigh ready for V DUB ISLAND + 10 day bike pub crawl :D

Happy days
