1970 Californian Import LHD VW Volkswagen Deluxe Microbus

You are beholding my super deluxe bus that I imported in 2009. This has been my own personal bus. It was not purchased for profit. I have spent thousands on getting her mechanically sound.
She has had 4 UK MOTs. She just had one last week so another year on the road for my 43 year old girl.
The body has needed little work. I spent £1200on paint last May mostly because some little s##t keyed her whilst parked. I had the front touched up, one side and the door. We made sure that we kept her patina hence the larger than usual bill.
She has never been welded and is as solid as a rock all over. The floor in the cab has surface discolouration. Due mainly to never having a mat in there. The engine bay, air intakes, window seal areas of the body are all sound with no rust.
I had all the original seating recovered in the original style with matching VW style upholstery and stuffed as they were tired. Now that have a new lease of life. I left the headlining rips and all as the man who I purchased it from used to put his surf boards in it. The fins caught the lining. Each time I look at them I imagine the dude going off to Huntington Beach for the day.
The blue plates you see in the images are Californian repro with my UK plate on. These are not suitable to have when MOTing so I have placed on black and tin plates. The blue are inc. With the sale.
All Work has been undertaken by Volkswagen specialists and is as follows..
• New in 09 1600cc single carb reconditioned engine and ancillaries
• UK lighting fitted
• New anti roll bar
• New distributor and leads
• Timing and tappets
• Carb cleaned and tuned several times
• New wiper blades
• New brake master cylinder
• New brake drums
• New brake light switch
• New suspension ball joints
• New dust covers for ball joints
My reasons for selling he is that I really do not use her that much. If I had a barn than I would keep her for all time but space is short here and I do run other vehicles. So my loss is your gain. I have also made enquiries about turning her into a camper. I worked out that for £2000 she could go into a specialist and been converted. For only £800 a basic kit inc. bed can be installed if you are handy like that. The best plan of all in my mind was to purchase an original LHD Westy kit from one of the many guys selling USA parts.
The photos were taken by myself at Beachy Head close to us in Eastbourne. The ones at the jet wash were taken last week. " of the photos were edited and I altered the colour. They are 2 of the 3 that read KOOL-CLASSICS. All the others have not been edited or photoshoped in any way.
Just to summarise if you are looking for a rust free, well maintained tasty bus than this is the bus for you. No road tax, cheap to insure. I pay £128 for the year with an agreed valuation of £10,000.
The van is well known by Nigel at the aircooled workshop in Ninfield.
