My indicator has 8 wires

I have a problem with my indicators and as far I can tell it is the switch, I have an American spec bus and was wondering what my options are in regard to replacing or repairing. Is it possible to fit a Euro spec indicator switch even though it has fewer wires. Or has anyone got a serviceable...

Excellent all makes sense now cheers fellas. I imagine it is to stop anything of any reasonable size falling into the bottom tin under the pully and jamming it while you are driving. It's a total guess so am provably wrong

Thanks Karl that was my theory as to what it was but I could not fit it over the guide rod and it didn't seem to marry up with the white bush fitted inside the coupling

Just fitted all new bushes and gators to the gear linkage but have this unknown bush all others are accounted for but this one I can't find reference to any where for any model bay. Any ideas just for my peice of mind
