Manufactured as a Kombi in Hanover & imported via Ramsgate, registered May 1970.
The Danbury the interior has been since removed by current owner and is now in a more practical day bus configuration.
In 2007 it underwent an eight month ground up restoration, undertaken by a VW specialist, including new anti-roll bars, suspension & mechanical rebuild, new hand built type 1, 1600cc twin port engine and a new re-conditioned gearbox.
Fully restored to a stock specification in all respects. Re-finished in an original Lotus White colour over new body panels. With new doors, floor pan, chassis sections & outriggers. All window rubber and door seals replaced (£000’s spent)
Although close as stock as possible in its restoration, it benefits from modern updates such as Pertronix distributor, flamethrower coil ignition kit, sound proofing, Propex gas heater , revs, engine temp, oil pressure gauges & buddy seats.
The interior is red door cards and matching original interior basket weave seats, equipped with many original accessories and features including a VW dash clock, VW Emden Radio, working 8 track stereo c/w cassettes, tow bar and an original 1970's orange awarning.
It comes complete with the original owner’s instruction manual & sales brochure, an extensive photo record and documentation file which includes previous resale adverts, old tax discs, garage receipts since 1997 and MOT's for last 24 years.
Ongoing maintenance includes Waxoyl of internal panels & Dinitol full body under seal every 3 years.

It has been used sympathetically & regularly having been in the family ownership for nearly 10 years.
