Thanks for the recommendations I’ll have a look into them. I’ve got a mix of new metal and old. I’m in the process of removing all old underseal and rubbing down any surface rust.
Am I still best of putting a primer on first or will most of this stuff not require a primer. I like the idea of...
Cheers I’ll have a look.
Looking for something to protect it but don’t want it to look like it’s been coated thick with under seal.
Is it best to etch primer it first?
Yep thought it would be best with a couple of people.
So with the roof fully up do you need to take the tension off the spring or can you just unbolt the strut from the mounting point.
Hi, Anyone got any advice for removing a dormobile roof. Looks like one side has 3 hinges and the other side has a rail securing the bellow down. Just not sure the best way to go about removing the spring loaded bars in the middle.
Hi mate, it’s the first time I’ve had the belly pans off so I assume it’s original.
Need to decide what to protect it with once it’s all done. The guy doing the work suggest I start with an acid etch primer.
Anyone got any advice and what to use?
Hi guys yep it’s the metal strap that keeps the tank secure. Looks like the main suppliers sell them for split buses but not early bays. The strap if welded in place at one end.
Anyway good news is my mate things he should be able to repair it. 🤞
Bit more progress on the bus. Sills, outriggers, jacking points, rear tub and arch all chopped out and some new metal in place on the O/S. Everything seems to take twice as long as expected finding more to repair on the way!
Spent a bit of time today cleaning the gearbox up. Got the thick off but still needs more work. Should have took a before pic!
Any recommendations on painting it?
Thanks for the pics. Looking at them the pre heat pipes look the same as mine. I was only wanting a new one for the appearance but now I’m thinking they are all like that.
Looks great, excellent work. Just been reading your thread from the beginning got me thinking if I should look into getting a new wiring loom while it’s stripped down. 🤔
Hi, yes mine has a vacuum take off but I do have it blanked off. The part number on my current one is 113.129.701 AR.
Don’t need the ends mine are good. It’s just the preheat pipes which are badly pitted.
