    tappet adjustment nightmare

Hi Splod, Have a look here: http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=58447" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I ended up with a new case, as I had 10mm head studs with 14mm case savers already fitted. Apparently, that is the largest case saver you can fit before you start...

    Jetting/tuning issue

That's it Spence, start the engine, check / adjust the pressure, take the gauge out and plug the hole up. Job done. 8) Cheers Mark

    Jetting/tuning issue

Thats the one Spence, the instructions say to use the gauge to set up pressure, then fit the plug that is supplied to blank the gauge hole up. Although, I still haven't got around to taking the gauge out, done 400 or so miles with it in. They are really easy to adjust the pressure, just take the...

    Gunson Colourtune ..

Yup, deffo a good option, the only problem is taking the bloody thing back out, the copper washer is not captive on the plug, so it comes off and rests over the spark plug hole. You need to be a contortionist, along with some long nosed pliers and a mirror to get it back out..... ask me...

    Front disc conversion

I've just spoken to Nate at Wagenswest, and he is interested in us organizing a group buy and will give us some discount, but not willing to elaborate on this until we can let him know just what we want. He will also ship to the UK on a pallet. For anybody interested, I have no problem...

    Front disc conversion

I'd be up for a group buy from wagenswest at the end of the season, if anyone else is thinking that way. Would love to send the business Heritage way, any thoughts Alex? I take it they are not one of your normal suppliers? as I've got a crossover, I'd be looking at these...

    Tyre rating

I wouldn't run anything other than commercial van tyres on my bus. I'm of the same opinion, there was a reason they came out of the factory with commercial tyres on. I wonder how many people who are running car tyres have informed their insurance??? If not, have an accident and guess who's got...

    Jetting/tuning issue

Hi Spence, I really need to get to mine, as me and the other half are going to Croyde in a couple of weeks, so I want the little flat spot ironing out. I'm running the Malpassi V8 filter regulator (told its the only one that has screw in fittings) as I'm using Speedflow Teflon hoses. Got it set...

    Cleaning fuel tank

Hi Wil, There should be a filter gauze in the take off tube at the bottom of the tank, if you undo the nut, the gauze should be there. It is a long sleeve that fits up into the bottom of the tank. I have just had my tank out and used the POR tank sealing kit. Followed the instructions using...

    Jetting/tuning issue

Hi, I've just changed my carb for a pair of EMPI HMPX 40s, (copy of the weber IDF40) as standard they came with 52 idles and 115 mains, they went on a 1641. I had similar issues to you in that they were popping and had a fairly hefty flat spot around 2K RPM. The first thing I did was change the...

    Todsters Engine Rebuild Take 2

Thanks Jon, I'm hoping so. Looking forward now to getting a couple of hundred miles in, then second oil change, then Croyde in June. That will put 600 or so miles on, change oil again then happy days. Got to say, it's not been as scary as I was imagining. Had a few niggles, but all in all a very...

    Todsters Engine Rebuild Take 2

Got a bit further with this. Hooked up both vacs to the 123, made it a little better, but not much, then remembered that the 123 has a 16 way dial switch to change the advance curve, and with the old carb (single, twin choke weber) I had it set on 0 - one curve fits all. I changed this to 5 -...

    tappet adjustment nightmare

I had 2 come loose on my bus, turned out to be studs pulled out of case. If someone has over tightened them in the past, this can happen. It is absolutely imperitive that they are torqued up to the correct setting. I hope that this is not what has happened to you. Cheers Mark
