Hi,

I'm struggling to find a recommended workshop for some jobs needed on my 1972 crossover. I need my pop up roof looked at, door cards to be put on and a little welding after a bump. I'm located in South Wales and would be great to find someone close, but willing to travel for a good recommended VW guy.

Thanks in advance

Any good garage could do your welding. I have used a guy in a unit by tool station in Llansamlet for my door cards. I can’t remember the company name but They came out great. As to your pop top roof, I sanded and filled my dormy roof myself and then took it to my local body shop to paint. I was chuffed with the outcome. The guy is near Pontardawe. Carters autos. Paul Carter cut his teeth on minis and vans but runs a mainstream garage. Very busy guy with MOT station and spray booth etc. I would look for a good local garage to do the work, or as the roof is fibreglass any boat repairers down buy you?

There is a classic VW specialist in Cilfynydd called Superstar Custom Creations and place called Body and Soul Autoworks in Cardiff that do a lot of T2's. I was hoping to get a generic local garage to do my welding for me but, for the difference in price, I think I'm going to just go for someone I know will do a almost perfect job.

Thanks both for your replies, I've taken my bus to a place called Dai's V-dubs in Raglan, Monmouthshire for an estimate on the work and was pleased with his attention to detail and workshop. I'll let you know how I get on
