Volkswagen Type 2 Transporter 'tin top' camper conversion. Californian import originally made in 1970 which is an early bay design with some of the best features from the earlier split screen model. Excellent condition underneath and on all panels in the best paint colours, bright blue and white. 1600cc twin carbs, air cooled engine. Front disc brakes, genuine Porsche alloys, classic wood rimmed alloy steering wheel, excellent tyres, full width rock and roll bed, small modern sink/hob, original radio and also multi-cd player discreetly hidden, five seat belts fitted (although not required), twin Fiamma bike rack, Regency awning. One careful owner since imported in 2008. Fastidious no expense spared servicing and repairs, including new engine shortly after import, about 2k miles each year since. Kept in a garage over winter. Lots of UK service, parts and repair history (file available). MOT'd in February 2018, but now does not require one as over 40 years old (48 in September).

Our Volkswagen Automuseum certificate shows the bus was built in Germany on 15/9/70 and left the factory on 17/9/70 as an export to Los Angeles USA as a seven/eight seater minibus in Pastel White/ Niagara Blue. The windows still have original US parking stickers on them. It was imported from California in February 2008 (sharing a container with two classic Porsche 912s), given a respray in the original colours and being a rust free Californian import passed an MOT on 10/3/2008. Registered in London on 22 April 2008 and was given an H suffix plate. There was some internal fitting out completed when we saw the bus at Volksworld Show 2008, and we had some additional parts fitted before purchase from VW Emporium, New Malden.

As members of the Type 2 Owners Club we have been to a number of shows and the bus always gets rated very highly. Holidays have been great and trouble free in Cornwall, Scotland, Lake District, New Forest, Dorset, Devon and Wales but now we expecting a new member of the family to arrive it is time to let the camper go to a new home. We are based in Swindon/Cricklade. Please contact Julie on 07920866978 for more information.[photobucket][/photobucket]
