Hi, I am new here and to vw vans in general. I started work at Rusty Kampers (plug, plug :D ) a few weeks ago and I decided I needed to get an early bay in my life. So after talking to a few friendly customers and asking around I have now got a project.....

After staring at it for a few days wondering what to do with it , this happened

looks better already , but leaves another decision put a new roof on and make it into a tin top or a webasto type sunroof ?

Ideas?

While thinking about the roof I decided to repair the engine cover as you can see it needed a complete bottom putting back in it , both inner and outer.

and since it started life as a panel van I am going to convert it back to a panel van

From the lack of roof bracing it looks like a Factory top stuck on a tin top, it should have no metal roof at all only metal hoops extending from the gutters.

Nice Bus though, and tin tops are far cooler anyway!

:D

I see that you are turning it back in to a panel van by welding up the windows.

What have you done with the rear window glass?

I've got a hi-top panel with small 1/2 windows cut out, I'm looking to put larger windows in as it is going to be a camper.
