......in my attempt to find a replacement for my beloved Splitty that departed from my garage last year I stumbled across this...

It's got a new ridemaster hoodride beam <narrowed> 7", New German King and link pins, New tie rods and ends, New steering damper, Rebuilt engine (by previous owner), New Randars (my fav rims by far) and a brand new MOT and I will be the first registered owner in this country!

When I saw it I just fell in love with it immediately and just knew I had to have it! For a longstanding member of the 'old skool volkswagen fraternity' I just thought this car had a proper story to tell and captured the essence of the Aircooled VW scene as it was and is. 8)

It's hard as nails, slammed lower than a corgi's ball-bag and patina'd to perfection. California's loss is DEFO the UK's gain!

I'm chuffed to bits :D

Randars look sic on early ghias. There was a white early ghia at Slough last year (turbo with a black roof) and it totally blew me away!!!

Cheers, thanks guys for all the nice comments, I'm well pleased with it!

SURPRISINGLY bud its not that bad at all! Of course there is pretty much Zero ground clearance for humps and kurbs etc but on the village roads as long as you are careful it really doesnt bottom out at all. Every now and again you might hear the odd scrape coming from the crossmember if you switch off momentarily and hit a bump, no dramas really, but other than that the ride is fairly smooth for such a slammed beast!

Its about time I got 'impractical again'.... its all about the looks after all!

ps. still looking on Ebay for a nice tent! lol

Thanks for all the positive comments guys!!!

Some people have been saying it'd look awesome a nice deep colour but to see it in the flesh (metal!!) in its Original 'patina'd paint' it to witness a VW with a story to tell... it just looks hard as nails so I fully intent to keep it as it is, at least for a while anyway. May plump for a stonker of a motor tho!

Look...even has the original radio!...
