I,d start with what you know is already a problem the leaking manifold joints ... You might be lucky and just find the nuts come loose.

did you mean body schutz ? this is o.k for if what you a covering is rust free or has been treated as it is rubberised and will seal what you are spraying but that means it will also seal any rust or water behind it to do its damage too.

if you can afford it get the 3hp one .....the smaller one with 8 cfm will struggle to keep up with the pace and you will be waiting for it to recharge the air tank all the while where as the 14 cfm will cope fine and will run most air tools that you would use on your van .

start with the basics , plugs , points set correctly , air pipes in place not split etc. tappets set o.k ..... hopefully one of these is your problem

i,m going to start cleaning up rusty areas on van and want to put something on to try and keep future rust creeping back i was looking at zinc primers and wondered what you peeps advice would be , i,m going to be top coating it with cellulose. also anybody used rust converters for the awkward...

is it not possible to pop round and speak to neighbour and try to smooth out the problem with a beer or two ?

is it possible you could adjust the hatch so it closes better/tighter onto the seal ?
