fibre isolating washer/spacer for fuel gauge wire to dash?

Yes but I couldn’t get a good enough grip with the little pegs due to the hole not a slit. Looking around on google images though I saw that the later vans have a bolt connection so now I’m thinking it will be easier and safer to do similar.

fibre isolating washer/spacer for fuel gauge wire to dash?

bit of a longshot but does anyone know if it is possible to get the fibre washer/disc with a splt in (i have no idea what its called) that isolates the fuel gauges connecting plugs from the metal dash frame? one of mine disintegrated and caused a short that burnt out the wire, very scary with...

window seal supplier recommendations please for a '71 microbus?

i'm hoping that there will be a few deals around in january so i can get a little discount on window seals for my van, LHD '71 microbus deluxe. i can see that all the normal places, justkampers, schofields etc, do them, but are any of them considered better in terms of quality and important fit...

i have a '71 US microbus deluxe who's headliner is long gone, i'd like to reinstall a new one but i'm not sure if i have all the strips of clips to attach it to remaining. the strips i have are both sides of the front doors, above the slide door and above the rear tailgate. i can't seem to...

    71 bay lowering

i would retort that it makes them look like tonka toys, but having just spent at least 3 days squeezed under my lowered bus on a sloping driveway trying to figure out my starter issue tonka toy seems appealing right now.

WTD: Volkswagen Camper & Commercial, Issue 37

I'm looking to install a new headliner in my '71 microbus and apparently Volkswagen Camper & Commercial, Issue 37, September & October 2008, has a how to article about the job. Does anyone have an old copy I could buy, or could anyone scan me the article? Thanks

    Interior panels

If you want just the wood look I personally would use marine ply, the more you pay the better it will be and some of the good stuff has beautiful grain. The bonus is its waterproof and is not affected by damp spots, birch ply particularly is awful for that. For finish it can simply be oiled, or...

72 crossover bay fuel gauge reads full all the time

Unrelated but similar for what it's worth... I just had an earth prob (huge cloud of smoke out the dash as I'm driving along) and it was the black wire that runs from the fuse box and earths on the speedo housing. What caused the meltdown was the earth connection to the fuel guage, there is a...

Wire (indicator light) meltdown behind dash?

turned out, after some looking, it was the earth wire that runs from the fuse box to the metal surround of the speedo housing that had melted. after replacing all of that, and cleaning up some badly bodged connections, it was ok for a sec then suddenly the fuel gauge freaked out and there was a...

Wire (indicator light) meltdown behind dash?

Bit of a baptism by fire this return to bay ownership for me! Driving along earlier I suddenly had smoke pour out of my dash accompanied by a weird broken buzzer type sound. I popped off my dash and found that the black wire that goes to the indicator bulbs on the speedo had melted. However by...

I'm after some templates for front seat covers (for a '71) but can't find any PDFs online, does anyone know of a website with them or has anyone got a set they could do me a copy of? Can anyone also tell me if there is a difference between the drivers seat cover and passenger? Thanks

Not starting - best place to start

I apologise if I'm stating the obvious, but literally 2 hours ago I was reading about this very scenario in John Muirs 'how to keep your Volkswagen alive', so maybe not an immediate help but definitely worth buying a copy off eBay (mine was under 6quid posted) for the future. It's way easier to...

    Patina enhancement/preservation/protection 101?

I've been digging around for a few days but patina seems to be one of those 'everyone has a different opinion' subjects, so can anyone spell out the basics? Story is I'm buying a bus that was repainted once but a long time ago, it's not acres of patina just overall well worn. Paint, white, is...

Ya See Um come and ya se um go!

I've just sold a T5 to buy a '71 tin top (32 years since I first had one), good move I think for how I use a van and a damn site more interesting in that you can actually work on and fix it. Not to mention being tax excempt and my insurance is less than half the t5.
