Have a scroll through. I think the posts are on page 2 now. It will outline really clearly my issues, they might be the same as yours.
Simply fitted a new coil (and fuel pump but you've already done that) and all the issues were sorted!
Alex
Evening chaps.
I just thought I'd update you all on the issues I was having with cutting out. We got back from a successful trip to Cornwall this week. We did about 730 miles in total without a blip! I was pretty nervy on the way down and had regular stops but by the time we came we stopped...
Good morning chaps!
Taken the van for a 30mile drive and will be out again later. So far everything seems to be running fine! The issue seems to have been resolved! :D
The engine is running A LOT cooler too. Noticeably so. Would that suggest the coil was the issue?
Either way I'm hoping...
Ozziedog, that's such a clear and detailed explanation, thank you! I hope this thread will help others. The fuel was getting no where near the end if the bottle. It maybe went two inches.
The new pump is on -- it was surprisingly easy! I've added the new coil to be sure. Tomorrow I shall be a...
Perfect. Changed the fuel pump and push rod. After doing the bottle test!
Whilst I was in there I have changed the coil too, in an attempt to get it sorted to go away this weekend!
Runs lovely on the drive... We just have to wait and see what happens when we go down the road!
Thanks stu.
Got it clamped and it's all good. My existing push rod is longer and the new 100mm one I got with the new pump. It's it a case of change both?
Ok chaps. Tested the pump. It's certainly not making it to the end of the bottle!
Next question is, how to replace it? Hi do I stop the fuel once the pipes are disconnected. I've just drained the tank once, there's 3/4 in I don't want to do it again!
Is replacing the pump an easy one...
Morning chaps. The new parts have just arrived. I'm going to try the bottle first and see how it looks. If that's ok then I'm on to the coil!
I'll let you know!
Alex
Ok, new coil ordered. Also got a fuel pump and push rod. Even if it's not them at least I have spares.
I'll let you know what happens!
Thanks for all the advice.
Alex
My strips are fairly tight but not too much. You need a bit of give in there so that it can move. If you pm your number to me I'll text you some pics of mine later so you can compare if you like?
Thank you all for these great thoughts! It has an electronic ignition so that eliminates the condenser. The fuel pump and coil still look like possibilities. Ozziedog I'll try your suggestion tomorrow and check the pump!
I am considering radish's suggestion to change both pump and coil...
The engine is a remtec. I believe it is a 1641. It is supposed to be a recon engine about 5 years ago according to the guy I bought it from last summer.
I'm just looking at the blue bosh coil JK sell and am considering new leads and plugs...
Cheers.
Alex
Hi guys. Me again. Same old issue...
My issue is the engine (as always!). As I have posted before when driving the van will seem sluggish and now at any speed loose power, judder and sometimes cut out, sometimes I can pull over and the engine will idle and I can continue. However tonight it cut...
It could be. Pop the roof and check the order of the ribs is right. If all the ribs are through the hoops and in the right order there's no reason for it to be baggy. If they fitted it themselves they should have pulled the canvas through tight enough. If you add some images inside and out it...
