    Westfalia Awning

The date of your tent /awning may be stamped on the fabric just to the left of the entrance (from inside) near the floor. I couldn't find anything on mine, but I've learned many have a date stamp here.

"Bluey" the Green 1971 Westy - eh?

Fantastic work yachty and cool Westy. Mycha directed me to your post in response to my question in the technical section about swapping the diagonal arms left-right for less camber on a lowered bus. I'm glad to see that you tried it -and it worked. Did it make a significant difference in...

Diagonal arm L/R swap -effect on rear wheel camber?

Thanks Mycha, I'll check with yachty first and find out how much change to expect but it looks like it's worth trying. BTW I (finally) got the 2nd Camper Cookbook, nice to see your Westy in there! Bob

Diagonal arm L/R swap -effect on rear wheel camber?

I am wondering if the diagonal arms can be swapped left-to-right to reduce the amount of rear wheel camber on a lowered bus as on an IRS beetle. Anyone try it? I couldn't find much info on this and looking at a a spare set of diagonals I have it looks easily doable with just the bump stop plate...

    Our white westy...

Some new additions... I needed a Porsche pattern spare that would fit right in the stock location. Since I couldn't find a lot of good info, here's what I did if someone wants to do the same. I bought a Porsche 944 spare from a guy in the local vw club, removed the collapsible tire and special...

    Favourite wheels

Since no one has posted up Porsche teledials (or phone dials as they're called here in Canada) yet, here's my fave: I like Speedmasters for a wide-five wheel. 8)

Air Shocks for front of Bay

Hey superfunkyfresh, I don't think the MA789's have the right mounting lugs to fit your bus. Check out the chart, it gives the lengths and a code for the upper and lower mounting configuration: (chart is from this link and the mounting codes are explained on page 5)...

    Our white westy...

As requested here are some pics of DOWN and UP with the air shocks but I couldn't fit the whole bus in the shot with my camera in the garage. Front at 10psi: And at 120psi: Back at 10psi: And at 120psi: ...can't see the difference? -Look closer, it's only about 4cm! The adjusters are set...

Bays on teledials, talk to me!

The previous owner of my bus is a friend and I know he painfully tried a couple of different adapters before he found the right (these) ones. I'll contact him to see if he has anymore info or specific H&R part number. If I find out anything more, I'll post it up here.

Bays on teledials, talk to me!

Hey Gary, nice Westy! -I like Sierra Yellow. My adapters came with the bus so I can't say specifically which retailer they came from. They are H&R which are available through various suppliers, you'll have to search around. Search: H&R wheel spacers (or adapters) 5x112 to 5x130. I know they...

Bays on teledials, talk to me!

I just double checked adapters and they are 25mm. Here's a pic of the adapter on the scratched-up drum and also a pic of the wheel installed and with the bus in the low-down position from my thread.

Mycha, it’s been a year already (slowest project ever) since I figured out the lengths I needed using this chart: I don’t remember anymore what my compressed length needed to be for the front, but I must have thought the MA824’s compressed length (12.75 inches) was too long with my setup and...

What do you use your sink for?

I'm in project phase so my sink is still holding small parts. A friend though, told me he fills his with ice and has a small 12v fan that blows over it to keep his wife cool during hot summer drives and reports that it's actually quite effective!

Bays on teledials, talk to me!

Mine are 16 x 7, with 205/55R16's and fit using H&R (25mm if I recall) adapters in the rear. I'll confirm adapter size when I can and add a pic. Tire is close to the springplate so may not clear the adjuster if using some adjustable ones(?) Also, my Westy is a '71 so has a flared wheel well -...

It will be a while before I can report on the ride quality, lots of other work needed on the bus before I can road test!

    Our white westy...

Thanks Foz, Mycha, I'll try to get some pics of the stance when I can but I'm into some body work now so the Westy is a long way from showing off with a "whole thing" pic. Your buses are awesome, I've been watching your thread Mycha for a while, and I'm interested to see your upcoming air ride...

    Our white westy...

Thanks for the comments guys, here's an update: I ordered some air shocks, MA803 for the front and MA824 for the back, which seemed closest to the lengths I needed. The MA803's have a 7/16-20 thread and the MA824's use a tapered press-together fitting for the standard (1/8"?) air line. To...
