    "rubber" cab steps..

I appreciate everyone’s candor, your commendable commitment to reusing scarce resources and keeping the original bitvas possible, truly I do. I might add, however (and I mean this in the nicest possible way) that you’re also a bunch of exceptionally thrifty cheap bastards. Carry on. I’ll be...

Today, I’m in Potrero County Park which is very close to the border with Mexico. This allows my camping buddies to drive over and eat Paletas.

    "rubber" cab steps..

I had no problem installing new footstep rubber. I think that I sprayed some silicone schmutz on the underside. Certainly, you’re not re-using the 53-year-old ones? Are you? Tell me you’re not.

    Battery light staying on bright

The last shop installed a new Empi alternator in my bus about 20k ago. It works fine. Bosch is not always the answer.

This is a BLM (Government) campsite in the desert east of Los Angeles. It is supposed to be $6.00 a night, but old codgers (like Ozziedog) only pay $3.00. Corn Springs Campsite

    Which oil

I don’t know what they’re on about. Everyone I know (in California) uses 20w50 with Zinc in their buses. I used to use 30w in my bus, but that was decades ago.

Adding lightness (AKA jettisoning unnecessary crap).

Often, when taking a walk around a campground, I come across lost or discarded tableware. Forks, spoons, etc., half buried in the dirt and gravel. Being exceptionally cheap, I always pick up those stainless steel utensils, pocket them, take them home and run them through the dishwasher, then...

Hey! Re-attach that cabin light! (Let me know if you require new switches.)

I associate nets with the 1968’s. My ‘70 and ‘71 had the headbanger cabinet. It’s fairly simple to determine who has the headbanger cabinets; just look for the people with a bandage on their forehead.

Silverado 2024 - Orange County, California

Friday was a warm, sunny day. Saturday had weather more typical of Bristol. We all ate and drank too much and then left for home Sunday morning.

Low light, big vents? Model year 1972. Definitely an early Bay.

Spot on. The coil failed and took the Pertronix unit with it. Everything fixed now.

My best guess at the moment is that the Pertronix ignition failed.

A few snapshots from Buses by the Bridge 27. “The bridge” refers to the London Bridge which, for some reason, is here in Arizona. About 600 buses.

If it ever rains in the UK (doubtful), catch a flight to the western USA where it will be warm and sunny. (R/T flights into Los Angeles are currently running at about £400) then rent a car (or Campervan) and come to a VW event/show/campout! There’s a few good ones coming up this spring.
